The Whitby Public Library is operating the patient library as an extension of its services and provided 600 ' books. Free Press Photo Regiment seeking student recruits The, Ontario Regiment will conduct a sixty man Summri"er' Recruit Training Program (SRTP) between July 2 and August 26 this year. Lieutenant Colonel Michael Koster, Command- ing Officer of The Ontario Regiment, announced that the course is aimed at em- ploying area students for a period of eight weeks during which they will be given intensive military training both in Oshawa and at The Annual Armoured Corps Military Concentration at Canadian Forces training area Meaford. Participants in the program will be paid approximately $1000 for the summer and will be given the opportunity to continue part-time paid service with the local reserve regiment throughout the remainder of the year. Applicants for the course must be Canadian Citizens aged 17-35. Each applicant must be medically and phy- sically fit for military service. The training program will consist of partical training in first aid, drill, weapons handling, fieldcraft, map using, service customns, comn- munications, driving, and gunnery. The training pro- grain will end in an Armnoured Corps Tactical Exercise to be held at Meaford, Ontario between August 20 and 26. Lieutenant Colonel Koster stressed that the annual summer course is an excel- lent opportunity for Oshawa and area students to earn money and to develop the personally valuable assets of discipline, leadership, initia- tive and self reliance offered in Military Training.
