This is one of the almost overlooked clauses in the Federal Election Act. Very littie has been said about this particular clause, but there has been some publicity in regards to the fact that a British Subject who was a permanent resi- dent of Canada in 1927 and stili living in Canada has the right to vote in the present Federal Election. The advertisments al state if your name is left off the voters' list you can stili be eligible to vote by notify- ing the nearest Returning Office. Here again the almost unknown clause referring to a British Subject who was a permanent resident of Canada in 1927 is not re- ferred to but they are eligible and have the right to vote the same as ail Canadian Citi- zens who are 18 years of age and over. During the Enumeration Week due to the rush of getting Voters' Iists ready there is the Possibility that some British -Suùbjects; who were permanent residents of Canada in 1927, had their names left off the Voters' list. If you are a British Subject and a permanent resident of Canada in 1927 telephone the Returning Office 668-3510 and have your name put on the Voters' list. The Returning Officer is Anne Finan and her Deputy Returning Officer is Pat Brooks. Ask for either one at 668-3510 and they will see to it that your name is on the Voters' List.
