One lady who is trying to. take seniors off the sheif is Kay Byk, the co-ordinator of programs of the Senior's Activity Centre on Brock Street South, right here in Whitby-; The centre is run by the Recreation Departmnent of the Town of Whitby and gives the senior a place to go to, enjoy the fellowship of their peers -and give them something that they can par- ticipate in. BYk, a teacher by trade, has a degree in art history from Queen's 'Unive rsity, Kingston, and has been the centre's co-ordinator for three years. Byk says that the hardest part of the job is getting the seniors involved and getting them to plan their own acti- vities.
