Brott in JVhitby Boris Brott, world-famous conductor and 1980 National Cbristmas Seal Obairnian, will visit Witby on Tuesday, January 20 to promote the campaign in Durham Region. Brott bas been well known in the world of music since be gave bis first performance at the age of five, as solo violinist with the Montreal Symphony. During a long musical career, he bas conducted all the major Canadian orchestras, and many in Europe. I ~z, Bylnes BROOKLIN SPRING FAIR BOARD MAKES PLANS FOR 1981 Plans are well under way for the 7th annual Brooklin Spring Fair to be held on June 4, 5, 6 and 7 in the Brooklin Community Park. This event is officially opened on Thursday, June 4 in con- junction with the Miss Brooklin Spring Fair Pageant. The opening will makr the first year for the fair to operate as a Class B Fair (formerly a Class C Fair). The fair board, under the chairmanship of Gary Young, is busy preparing for bigger and better shows of cattie, sheep, heavy horses, light horses and special horse shows. It is also planning new attractions for visitors to the fair. There will be more bleechers to rest on and see the exhibits in various classes. The exhibits will remain in the arena from Friday after- noon until Sunday afternoon. Saturday will be dairy day and on Sunday, beef cattie and sheep will be sbown. Sunday afternoon, there will be horse racing with pari- mutual betting privileges. The bed and bath tub races are also shown Sunday. Greenwoo d winter craft classes Green and White Crafts, a voluntary community un- dertaking wiIl begin new winter craft classes on January* 12 at Greenwood Community Centre, Green- wood (south of highway 7). Courses, taught by qualified instructors, will includee Monday mornings - four barness weaving at begin- ners and advance leves. The advance class this term will be taught the traditional Summer and Winter Pat- tern. Also on Monday mornings, instruction in oul painting will be given. On Wednesday afternoons, instruction in crochet and barjello needlework will be available. The fee for eacb course is $20. To ensure a place, ad- vance registration is ad- vised.
