Whitby Toastmistress originally belonged to Coun- cil 9 of the Old Great Lakes Region which was com- prised of 10 councils. In June, 1980, at the regional conference in Indianapolis, Great Lakes Region was split into two new areas--the new Great Lakes and the Mid-America Regions. The new Great Lakes Region consists of two On- tario councils and three from Ohio and Michigan. Council 2, to which Whitby belongs, extends north from Toronto to North Bay and east to Oshawa. Council 2 has doubled its membership since being formed in 1977 and now boasts twelve clubs. The council 2 meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. on February 1 and will run, featuring special guests, guest speakers, and varied, interesting workshops, until approximately 3:30 p.m. Special guests will include president Louise Pan- nelland, first vice-president Hilda Crayford of Great Lakes Region and Tom Ed- wards who will represent Mayor Attersley for the Town of Whitby. Guests are welcome to at- tend this meeting which will be held at the Holiday Inn on Harmony Rd. and the 401 in Oshawa. The $9 a person charge includes the registration fee and lunch. Audry has won prizes for her houseplant entries. She is also knowledgeable about judging should you haveèany questions in that area. Ken Brown is a horticulturalist, author and lec- turer and a delightfully humerous speaker. Make a list of your particular proble ms in green house plants and bring this to the meeting.
