At the Oshawva Centre Cinemas, Ordinarv People with Mary Tyler Moore and Donald Sutherland has been brought back for an encore. This one ca;ries a warning that some scenes may be of- fensive to pre-teenagers, but the film on the whole has done well and has been con- sidered by most critics to be entertaining. Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda are holding on for another week at Cinemna 2. This movie is Iight comedy and thoroughly enjoyable. In fact, Dolly Parton, the country singer making her film debut, is already being courted by producers to appear in another. And you will have noticed that this happens to be the year of Lily Tomlin with movie and television successes, one after CAROUSEËL INN i For those Special Occasions: *Wedding Receptions *Banquets *Anv large funct ion z £ r WNGTBY Tft.Cu<.$o~ag 067 *6a - .0*, MWV qOs saav,~g ~e ~SL Ur~ * OI>$fi~ CAE~>6f&. This movie is another of those modern scientific horrors that may not be to everyone's liking. .My Bloody Valentine stays for the week at Cinema 4. The catch line on the adver- tising, -There is more than one way to lose your heart" may tell you something. No wonder it carnies a restric- ted label. Lily Tomlin who seems to be popping up ail over the place. is now at the Odeon in Oshawa starring in The In- credible Shrinking Woman. Looks much like another smash for Lily. The Highland theatre has Stunt Man. This movie has some outstanding stunt work and is a tale that will hold your attention from the first scene to the last. Paul Newman and Ed Asner appear together in an exciting and gripping tale titled Fort Appache, The Bronx at the Regent. People in the Bronx were shown the script before the film was started. Many of them ob- jected, feeling the story line would give the Bronx area a sleazy reputation among people who have neyer been there. The film was made anyway, and Newman feels it was one of the most challenging roles he has ever played'. And if you happen to be in the mood for something dif- ferent, there is dining and dancing at Zolly's on the east side of the Oshawa Shopping Centre. The Climax Jazz Band is curren- tly appearing, and at Zolly's you can have a hot or cold Smorgasbord for only $6.95. The Flying Dutchman at Bowmanville at Highway 401 is offering Grand Olde Country every Wednesday, starting tonight. You are in- vited to dress in Western style clothes for there will be prizes for the best dressed Western duds. The music is recorded and will include all the favourites such as Kenny Rogers, Donna Fargo, Ann Murray, Larry Gatlin and many more. Because of the response to this new show, you are advised to phone 623- 3373 for reservations. If you happen to like live theatre, "Beyond the Fringe" will be offered on Wednesday and Sundays un- tiI March 8th. They offer dinner and show for $17 a person; at the Stardust Dmn- ner Theatre. Jubillee Pavillion, at Lakeview Park in Oshawa has a number of dancing engagements coming up in the ensuing weeks. This Saturday Segarini & Crosswinds will be on the bandstand. Art Halîman, the singing maestro with the Big Band sound has a num- ber of dates during the next few months. If you are looking for family entertainment you might enjoy White Horse Inn by the Oshawa' Choral Society at Eastdale Collegiate, Feb. 26, 27, 28. It is a musical comedy written by Ralph Benatzky. Curtain time is 8p.m. Oshawa City Players ser- ve notice they are casting for three men and three women for the play The In- door Sport, a comedy. Auditions will be held February 28, March 2 and 4. If interested, cail 579-1869 or 725-1324 in the evenings. This just might be your big chance to break into theatre work.
