Stott, senior provincial cham- pions. - Brooklin-Whitby Minor Hockey Association peewee 2 team, all-Ontario champs. - Whitby Iroquois Swim Club, 4A provin- cial tournament trophy winners. - Brooklin-Whitby Minor Hockey Association minor atoms, eastern Ontario champions. Teams from Anderson Collegiate and Vocational Institute, Henry Street High School apd Denis O'Connor High School will also be honored. Anderson: - Midget boys' rugby team, winners of the Lake Ontario Secondary School Association (LOSSA) champions. - Boys' curling rink, LOSSA champions, and third place finishers in the Central Lake On- tario and Secondary School Association (COSSA) playdowns. - Senior boys' rugby team, second place finishers in LOSSA and competitors in the On- tario Federation of Secondary School Association (OFSSA) tournament. Denis O'Connor: - Junior and Senior girls' basketball teams, both first place finishers at COSSA. Henry Street: - Girls' curling squad, LOSSA champions and semi-finalists at COSSA. - Junior girls' basket- ball squad, semi- finalists at LOSSA. Admission to the Recognition of Achievement night is free, and things are scheduled to get under- wvay at 7:30 p.m. WHITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, J UNE 24, 1981, PAGE 13 New number for centre The Distress Centre of Durham Region has changed its telephone number. The centre's telephone numbers are now 433-1121 or 686-2366. These numbers will now be located inside the front cover of the telephone book. The centre hopes that this service will now make their volunteers and staff more accessible to those who need it. Tourist centre opens Durham West MPP and Ontario Minister of Revenue George Ashe is seen here cutting the ribbon held by Mayor Bob Attersley (left) and Whitby's assistant administrator Forbes McEwen (right) to officially open the town's new tourist information centre. The information centre is located on the south-west corner of Brock and Burns Streets and has a wealth of information on tourist attractions within Whitby, Durham Region, Ontario and the country at large. The centre is manned by four students hired under a federal grants program and will be in operation until September. The location is a temporary one. Whitby Town Council is expected to choose a permanent location for the information centre sometime in the fall.
