The clinie wilI be held at the Legion Hall, Wed- nesday, September 16 from 2to 8p.m. One dedicated blood donor, Donald John McGraw, who bas given 36 times, knows how important it is. Early this summer, bis wife, Doreen and daughter, Jayne, were in a very serious car ac- cident. Both received blood. Jayne required 18 units during a compli- cated 12 hour back operation. On clinic day, Joyce Cox, Whitby's blood donor chairman, will present certificates and pins, recognizing 35 donations to six Whitby people, including Jobn McGraw, and 50 dona- tion ones to Robert Bradley and Bobbi Cowley. September 16, the Red Cross crew will bring extra beds and staff from Toronto, to ac- commodate more people. However, bet- ween 4 and 6 p.m.; the clinic will operate on baif staff because of the supper hour. At that time tbe wait may be a little longer. Some people are always deferred for temporary bealth condi- tions. Donors must be bet- ween the ages of 18 and 65 and weigh at least 110 pounds. They mnust be in good general bealth and have not taken any medication for several days prbor to the clinie. First time donors are particularly welcomed. Both Red Cross staff and Whitby volunteers will be glad to answer any questions. A person can give blood four times a year, 91 days apart. Think about the McGraw family. Be a blood donor by choice. You may become a blood recipient from necessity.
