" Man wins s ilver medal A Whitby resident won the silver medal in the discus in the recen- tly held Eighth Annual Canadian Masters Track and Field Cham- pionships in Richmond, B.C. Tony Jones competed in the event with more than 160 athletes from across Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. Aside from the discus, Jones competed in the 60 to 64 age class in five other events including the 100-metre, the 200- metre, the hammer, the javelin and the shotput. Jones went to the meet as a member of the Oshawa brandi of the Royal Canadian Legion's track and field club.
