They're the one who put me here today." says Cliff Ed- wards who is appearing at The Corral in Oshawa this week. Touring has been a large part of Edwards"' life as can be seen in where he's been in the past few months. Hie spent the past couple of weeks enter- taining at the Canadian Country and Western Awards in Ottawa. Pre- vious to that he spent 20 days at the Carlsberg Pavilion at the CNE with Rompin' Ronnie Hawkins and prior toJ that was on an extensive tour out west. He feels that bands that don't tour lose some of their audience from the lack of closeness the fans need to feel. For this tour Edwards put together a new band to give a littie departure in style. "I want things to be a little more uptempo and got together some guys who can rock a littie."l This is going to be even more evident on his new album, as yet untitled, set to be reieased after Christ- mas. His show will include some cuts off this album and his present album, What's Forever For, as well as some old favour- ites. His present single Easier Said Than Done is doing well in the char- ts and a new single is set for release the first week of October calied, "Keep Your Hands Off." He only does one Beii's number, their million selling hit Stay Awhile. The Beils, a Canadian group from the eariy seventies, featured Ed- wards as maie vocalist. They scored with numerous hits including Fly Little White Dove Fly and appeared across Canada and the U.S. including an ap- pearance on the Tonight Show. When asked about possibiy producing again he stated "It's hard to find the right people when you're on the road ail the time, but maybe somewhere down the road lil do it again." As for the future he states that he wants to "ireach out into the in- ternational market" feeling thiat there' are horizons to conquer. If his near future is any indicator of. where he's headed then he is going in the right direc- tion with appearances on Canada k;M. and the Sylvia Tyson Show, only two of his many planned media appearances. *CINEMASHOWCASE Stars on Ice Two members of the Bertini Family of France are seen here demonstrating their prof iciency on the unicycle on an ice rink.
