Perhaps, their feel- ings were best ex- pressed by one veteran who said, "I wouldn't trade my three years in the service for any other six years of my life but I wouldn't do it 'again for $1 million." These men know from personal experience the horror of war and most of the people in attend- ance had not even been born when they took up ams. Why did these men turn out to honor the dead and relive, even for a -short time, a con- flict they would probably want to for- get?
