Henry Street High Schooi is not only known for its sports teams, but also for its talent in the theatre. This year, the ACVI action ACVI has indeed been notorious for its vast array of extracurricular activities and the recent, "supercouples", competition was a fine example of this diver- sity. In this contest, teams consisting of one maie and one female partook in events which tested reflexes, stami- na, and co-ordination. Af ter playing, "human wheeibarrow soccer", running through an ob- stacle course while blindfolded, and shoot- ing a basketbali with their hands tied together, Annette Balcom and Eric Perroni were declared to be the victors. Champions were far from a rarity here at Anderson recently -, or so our senior boys volleyball team proved. Af ter winning the L.O.S.S.A. West Title, the team advanced to L.O.S.S.A. competition and placed second. This position earned the team a place in the prestigious C.O.S.S.A. competition where it finished its tremendous season in third place. Congratulations to the team and the coach who have done Anderson proud. More athletics will begin at Anderson when the Anderson Ski Club invades the his of Kir- by. The club's season commences after the upcoming Christmas Holidays. Every Tues- day evening for eight consecutive weeks, an-y student both able to brave the cold and in- terested in skiing wil have an opportunity to take a break from homework and schuss the snow-laden siopes. With snow and Christ- CONT'D ON PG. 12 drama club has chosen "A Taste of Honey" and "The Unkown Soldier" for two of its pro- ductions. "A Taste of Honey" will be performed by Donna Castle, Abby Zotz, Chad Kaiser and John Gellatly. The cast for "The Unkown Sol- dier" has not been chosen yet. Four years ago, the club won an award for best production and the club traveiled to Engiand where they competed with pro- ductions from England, Russia, Romania and Western Europe. Two years later, our drama club again packed their bags and headed off to England. The produc- tions of "Riders to the Sea" and "Loyers" were enthusiasticaliy received. November 20 showed most of the staff and stu- dents wearing similar clothes. It was Henry's famous "Jeans, hat and button day" taking place. Although the school football buttons were the most popular, others such as the "Pepsi Challenge", CHUM star signs, CFTR buttons and even Walt Disney World were ad- vertised. My ail time favorite button was DO'C report By UISA JEPPESEN Denis O'Connor H.S. Christmas season is approaching quickly and with it comes DO'C's favourite social events. Our annual Christmas concert wiil be held on December 10. The DO'C choir, band and soloists w ill be featured in the concert. The Christmas formai is the next item on the holiday agenda and takes place on December 16. More details on this gala wil follow. At the height of the Christmas fever wili be the traditional sock-hop of December 22. The Grade 12 students' retreat, which is stili in progress, was held at the Queen of the Apostles Renewal Centre in Mississauga. The retreat is being made in two sessions due to the size of the Grade 12 student body. The first session was from Novembe 30 to December 1. The second session wili be from December 3 to December 4. The Genesis II program, which also involves the Grade 12 students, wiil hold its final meeting -on December 7. Because this is the last instalment of Genesis II, it wili be a parent/student night. The DO'C walk-a-thon resuits have been tabulated and most of the money has been coilected. During a recent assembly, Father AI Love, a DO'C private schooi board member, was presented with a cheque for $32,500, the end product of our fruitfui walk. Sports-wise, Henry's girls' basketbali teams were again at their best. As of November 20, the senior girls' team had 41 to 37 victory over the Honey"11 Pickering team, and the junior team had an ex- citing overtime win over the Uxbridge basketball teain. The senior girls also played McLaughlin, and won 44 to, 37.
