"The main purpose behind the purchase of the animal control sheiter from the O.H.S. is to give the municipali- ties maximum flexibiiity and control in the provision of animai control services, " he said. " Whether or not the municipalities continue to contract with the 0.H.S., they will require sijch' a facility and this agreement provides us with such fadilities at an attractive price," Bat- ten added.' Batten also said that the agreement makes a "clear and precise defi- nition of the obligations of the society regarding animal control services and also to provide an up-to-date, specific and workable contract for animal control ser- vices." Pmball before 0MB The Ontario Munici- pal Board will make a ruling on a Coîborne Street West 'resident's objection to a pinball arcade that will *be located next door to him. John Moskaluk of 200 Coiborne Street. West has objected to a pro- posai made by Sub- marine Machine to in- stail a pinball arcade on its property at 201 Dun- das Street West. In order to open the faciiity, Submarine Machine. requires an amendment to the town's byiaws. The ar- cade was open for a brief time last year but. was closed by the town's bylaw enforcement offi- cer. Area residents want to take the matter to the 0MB compiaining that it is "'neither desirable or beneficial to the community." Whitby Town Council, passed a byiaw restrict- ing the size and opera- tion hours «~ pinbail ar- cades lastyear. That byiaw also requires 0MB approvai. Buses CONT'D FROM PG. 1 pay to ride the buses to go to school, " he said. "There is no justifica- tion for this and it wouid oniy be fair to treat al areas the same," he ad- ded. In defending his amendment, Batten said that "we should keep our options open. " During the 1982 bud- get discussions, which are due to begin tonight, council will attempt to make provision for the construction of some 10 bus sheiters throughout the town at a cost of about $20,000 plus $2,500 a year for maintenance.
