I would also like to wish its staff and readers a prosperous new year, at this ture of writing. Some thoughts I have pondered for 1982: - a budget with no increase in the milI-rate; - a new bridge to Port Whitby- - à head start on the earnest planning stage for the Kesmark Development for the Port; - a better "GO" parking lot; - a permanent information centre; - to sort out traffic problems at the Safeway Plaza; - sewers to Elizabeth Crescent; - the Manning Road extension to Anderson Street; - for council to take a tougher attitude toward builders who do not live up to their commitments; to IBROOKLIN HOME BAKERY I &DELICATESSAN I 61 BALDWIN ST. I hope that the citizens of Whitby will adopt the marigold as the town symbol and will help to promote tourism this year. I hope that industrial development will grow as much as the mayor and council have promoted same. I hope that re-assessment wilI be fair, as the pro- vincial minister(s) suggest. And, Most of ail, for 1982, I hope that we will enjoy a peaceful new year, a prosperous one, and that what rnay have divided us as a nation in 1981 may help us'to go forward as one.
