According to Milîs, the first work to be com- pleted will be the, curbs.- After that sidewalks will be installed followed by the sodding 0f boule- vards and lots. "The town will keep on top 0f the contractors to make sure the work is progressing in a satis- factory and- efficient manner and if there are any undue delays we will then be in a position to have the work under- taken by contractors hired on beha.If of the municipality," Milîs continued. However, . while, the town wilI try to get work on the public area s 0f the development finish- ed, homeowners should contact the Housing and Urban ,Development Association of Canada (HUDAC) if they have concerns about work to be done on their homes. Milîs bas suggested that homeowners should senid HLJDAC a list of ail outstanding work wbile providing a copy'for the town. "The town itself can- not assure you that any of the defects will be corrected but we have bee-gn in contact with the builder and tlhey assure us, that ail the outstand- ing work will be correct- ed, " he said.' As well as mouth-to- mfouth, participants will be taught basic firefighting, basic rescue and equipment techniques with emphasis placed on home fire prevention and safety. This will be Margaret's third year in the program which will be offered in two two-week sessions begin- nings July 5. Each session will have two courses - one-in the morning and one in the afternoon. Boyce bas been elected the 1982 president of the. County Town Carnival. This will be the town's l7th annual carnival and will take place fromn July 21 to August 2. Also elected to the carnival's executive committee were: John Goverde, vice- president; Richard Scott, s ecretary; and, Gerda Goverde, treasurer. Robin Lyon, who ser- ved as presîident for 1980 and 1981 will continue to be on the executive as immediate past- president. The committee will also bave 14 directors including: Robert Adams, Royal Canadian Legion; Doug Anderson, Whitby Historical Society;, Archie Craig, Whitby Iroquois Soccer Club; Garth Edwards, Whitby Kinsmen Club; Ron Ells, Whitby Yacht Club; and, Gor- don Hanna, Whitby Hor- seshow Club. -Representing ý the Town of Whitby on the committee will be direc- tor of parks and recrea- tion Wayne DeVeau and Barry O'Neill. The theme for this year's carnival will be "Whitby Grows with the Marigold."
