Ail winter, spring and fali, meetings are held, women are sewrng, children are painting and now the racetrack is being groomed in.readi- ness. The fair will be held from June 3 to 6 at the Brooklin Comnmunity Park.. The kick-off dance will take Place in the Brooklin Arena on May 29, to the sound of the popular disc jockey, e & H Sound. Tickets are available now at a rea- sonable $5 each, from Short's Pharmacy in Brooklin. At 4 p.m. on Thurs- day, June 3 the midway opens the 7lst Brooklin Spring Fair with four fun-filled days- packed with excitement. of every kind. For the second year Fay Lehman's pony show and gymkhana for children will take, place in the centre of the race- track at 5 p.rn. Last year's youngest compe- titor was a three-year- old girl from Brooklin who won the lead Uine class. At 7 p.m., the famous Carlsberg Champion- ship Team will perform th eir 8-horse hitch pre- sentation in the race- track area. At 7:30p.m. contestants wij, com- pete for the' title of "Miss Brooklin Spring' Fair," which will enable the winner to enter the "Queen of the Pairs" at the Canadian National Exhibition. During the evening Whitby Mayor Bob Attérsley will open the fair. This year for the first time the Ontario Guern- sey Association will hold their spring show at Brooklin Friday after- noon. One hundred guernsey cattie from l ,,-over Ontario wilI be on view as they are being judged. 1 On Friday morning, exhibits of handicrafts, baking and children's and adults' floriculture will be brought into the arena f or judging. ,A new feature in the arena this year will be the Block Parent's lost children's booth. On Friday at 7 p.m. the third annual tractor pull takes place with modified tractors, 'four wheel drive trucks and highway tractors will compete. A weekend tennis tournament, which begins Friday evening and doesn't endý until late Sunday afternoon will bring the best of, the aas tennis players to- the tennis courts to vie for the Bagg Realty Trophy. On Saturday, the Cen- tral 0O>ntario Appaloosa Horse Show runs all day. A parade, the theme of which is "Heroes and Villains", will -delight the crowd as it wends its way down the streets of Brooklin, dispersing in the fairgrounds at 10: 30 a.m. A large dairy show, light and heavy horses* and finally a horse pulling competition will filI the afternoon -with ,good agricultural enter- tainment.
