The Iroquois neyer really. recovered froin this blow but play re- mained fairly even for the remainder of the half and the score stayed at 1 to 0. In the second hall Pica, if anything, had a slight edge and manag- ed another two goals, one fron a bad defen- sive slip and the other directly. froin a free kick. This is a, weil- balanced Pica team and the Whitby squad wish thein well in the upcom- ing rounds. By S. PORTER With- only five weeks left in the regular league season, Whitby again moved into top spot in the Durham e- gion Youth Soccer League by virtue ofa 5 to 0 win over Ajax and an 8 to l loss by the Town of Pickering at Bowmanville. However, the Iroquois cannot afford a slip as only à couple of points separate the top fîve teanis. In the Ajax gaine, played at Iroquois Park, Whitby on Monday, July 19, Whitby came out of a minî-slump, and despite being short three regu- lars, played an aggres- sive gaine to fully de- serve the shut-out win (David Flook was the Whitby net-minder) in which the defense, with Geoff Hull and Jeff Bow- man superb, completely bottled up the Ajax at- tack while the offense created havoc time and again in the Ajax hall. Scorers for Whitby were Royston McMahon and Luigi Pepe in the first hall while Mark Bateman had two and David Sharp one i the second hall. to 4 for Prince George. Later the saine day, Peacock Sports met their old nemesis from Peterborough who man- aged to shadow our bet- ter players.
