Entries are currently being accepted for the junior, senior and open categories. The entry fee will be $5. ANTIQUE SHOW The Kinette Club of Oshawa will hold its lth annual antique show and sale on September 22 from1 to 9 p.m. at the Kinsmen Community Centre, 109 Colbourne Street West, Oshawa. Dealers will be dis- playing a variety of china, sterling, silver, jewelry, glass and-furni- ture. Money raised will be used for the club's community service work. Admission will be $1. ONE PARENT MEETING The next meeting of the Oshawa. Chapter of the One Parent Fami- lies Association of Canada will be held on August 17 at 8:30 p.m. in the Lake Vista Club- house, Emerald Ave., Oshawa. SUMMER CINEMA The Whitby Arts Sta- tion Gallery will con- tinue its Summer Cinema '82 program tomorrow (August 12). Adults can see the original 1956 version of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" at 7 p.m. Admission to both shows is free. The gallery is located at the corner of Henry and Vitoria Streets. For more information cal 668-4185. CLOCA EVENTS The Central Lake Ont- ario Conservation Authority (CLOCA) will continue with- its sum- mer programs this week. Guided walks meet at the authority office at 1650 Dundas Street East Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Evening programs are held Tuesday and Saturday evenings at the Heber Down Conser- shown at 9 p.m. Films will also be shown on Thursdays at 9 p.m. Heber Down Conser- vation Area is located on Coronation Road, one kilometre south of High- way 7 in Brooklin. The following are the programs for the up- coming week: August 12 -- "Summer Wildfires" at Purple Woods Conservation Area. August 14 - evening program "The Ecology of Heber Down." August 15 - "Senses working Overtime;" a walk at Stephen's Gulch Conservation Area designed to make people aware of using all five of their senses for appre- ciating nature. OPEN HOUSE The -Durham Region Horseback Riding for the Handicapped Asso- ciation will hold its four- th annual open house on Sunday, September 12 at 2 p.m. at Hoskin Sta- bles, Blackstock (on Durham Region Road 57). The program has been operating for four years and offers riding in- struction to the handi- capped. Refreshments will be served and all are wel- come to attend. RIDE-A-THON The Durham Region Horseback Riding for the Handicapped Asso- ciation will be holding a ride-a-thon on Saturday, September 25 at Hoskin Stables, Blackstock. Trophies will be awarded to the indivi- dual rider with the high- est earnings and to the group or stable with the highest earnings. Ail riders will receive crests. OPEN HOUSE The · Christopher Robin Home for Child- ren will hold its 14th an- nual open house on Sun- day, August 15 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Also featured will be a bake table, a white-ele- phant table and a handi- craft table. There will also be a draw for a video cassette player. The home is located on the south side of Highway 2 between' built up areas where domestic and wild animals can infect children who come in contact with them. Children should be warned to avoid stray pets, as well as wild Whitby and Ajax. For more information cal 683-2412. COMPUTER CLUB The next meeting of the Durham Region Personal Computer Club will be held on August 19 at 7 p.m. at the Whitby Public Lib- rary. All persons owning a personal computer sys- tem or those wishing to get into the hobby are welconftattend. This month's meeting wiil be devoted to educa- tional programs. At present, there are no club fees. animals, especially if they appear sick or friendly because these usually are signs that they are rabid. Contact your doctor or health unit immediately if your child or pet comes in contact with wild animals.
