Diane and I thoroughly, enjoyed, the meal, the, walk through the lighted gardens of the contest but'the highlight of 'the evening for us' was, the inspiring messages on positive attitude and aggressiveness deliveredtous by LenCullen. Possessing a good positive attitude and the desire. to be aggressive is important anytime but a.definite, requirement with the present state 0f our general economy. We ail feel the effects of high unemploy- ment and interest ratês'and recognize the fact that an ever-increasing number of businesses are ceasing to exist. .We, as your representatives, recognize the problems the taxpayers are experiencing and rea- lize the importance of controlling costs and attempt- ing to minimize increases to your tax bill. It 4s not an easy task to continue to, provide a satisfactory level of service without increasing the cost, to the taxpayer, especially the aforementioned sta 'te of our ec 'onomy. However, we as1 a council, believe in the Town of Whitby and are actively promoting the, town and encouraging new industry to locate here. We strongly believe that by aggressively pursuing new inidustry we can increase general assessment and thereby reduce the impact to the existing tax- payer. We believe that this positive, aggressive attitude is shared with the business. community and the tax- payers of the Town of Whitby and in spite, of poor economie conditions' we will continue to prosper. The ýold, weIl-used adage is "When the going gets tough, the tough get going, " and we in -the Town of Whitby'are going. prises, so why not get a headstart on the year's science >projeets and come out to see the scientific wizardry of Doctor Zeci?
