On October 29at 1 p.mn, seven busloads of, transported to Peel Park here in Whitby to watch the Junior Boys' soccer team defeat Ajax Hligh Sehool 3 to 1 in a championship game. A haif-time show was provided by Andrew Branigan and ail had a good trne. Hopefully more of these outings will be planned for the future. Perhaps it was our lack of student body exoitement and cheer- ing that added to the team's defeat on Tues- day, November, 2. The boys lost their game to O'Neil an d thereby failed to quality for the finals in Peterborough on Saturday. However, we are ail very proud of Students.'learn 'about careers Byý C. DALEMAN Anderson CV.!. The week of Novem- Sber 1 to 5 was designat- ed Career Week at An- derson. Every day, during the lunch hour, students had the oppor- tunity to obtain informa- tion about occupations and professions which interested them the Most. The presentations stressed the academic and training require- ments of careers in var- ious areas, such as medicine, law enforce- ment, trades and ap- prenticeships, account- ing and business, and computer programnling to name a few. The Stu- dent Services Depart- ment had surveyed al the students to deter- mine the areas 6f great- est interest. Career Week con- tinues another program to inform students about post-secondary educa-, tion. For the past several weeks, repre- sentatives from differ- ent universities have spoken to our senior stu- dents regarding their in- stitutions, as well as uni- versity education in general. The purpose is, of course, to enable our seniors to make an in- telligent career choice in the near future. To help students and their parents plan the future, ACVI held its first Parents' Night on November 2. Parents had the opportunity to discuss their son or daughter's marks and general progress. Re- member the report car- ds we received l1ast Friday?, Congratulations to three accomplished musicians, David Free, Larry Tummonds and Andrew Fogarasi, who have been accepted as members of the Ontario their excellent 'season, play. Our Hallowe'en Dan- ce was a tremendous success. Prizes for best costumes were awarded to Paul Cripps, Vinny Branigan . and Joanne Muelensteen. November was initiat- ed quickly with Career Day on the third. This day included a filin and presentation with ,a follow-up on career planning. The highlight of the. day was the car- eer contest. The student who managed to llst aý many, careers. as poss ible had -the chance o winning a $10 album o his/her choice. Following province-wide audi- tions, these three stu- dents were invited to corne to London, On- tario, for several days of intensive rehearsals and private lessons.
