Apart from the usual North American Chi- nese cuisine, this rest- aurant also carries a good selection of Malay- sian dishes which will find a good following in Whitby and the surrounding areas. Their curry dishes are authentic and closely re- semble Indian curry. The chef can, on re- quest, make the curry almost too hot to eat. Another dish which is rapidly becoming popu- lar is Malay Satay - chunks of beef or chick- en marinated in a variety of oriental spices and served bar- bequed on bamboo skewers with a delight- ful peanut sauce. Another welcome feature on the menu is the combination plates. Now anyone dining alone can have a little bit of four or five dishes without having to spend a small fortune. The combination plates start from as low as $3.95, and if you are looking for just a light snack to go with your drinks try the Lantern Platter ... BBQ ribs, breaded shrimps, fried wonton, shrimp chips, fried chicken wings and Malay Satay with pea- nut sauce ... $9.50 for two persons. For a relaxing after- noon drink the drinking lounge offers comfort- able sofas and seats in pleasant, quiet sur- roundings and fast and efficient service. When you are plann- ing a party, keep this place in inind. Their banquet room can ac- commodate up to 120 people and features a dance floor and full stereo sound facilities.
