The Whltby boys had won the first two games against the Riverside Rangers at home and traveiled to Windsor for the third game. River- aide came out flying, determined to wln and force another game. The flrst perlod ended ina 1-1 tie, with the Whitby goal scored by defenseman Joon Lee, assisted by Chris Reier. The second period also ended in a tie at 2-2. Whltby's goal was not- ched by Greg Roberts wlth assists from Gary Mark and Joon Lee. In the third period Riverside went ahead but a shot from the point by defenseman Greg DeWltt tied the game at three aplece. The assist went to Greg Roberts. Whltby had 35 shots on net in this period alone, and the score would have been much higher if not for the excellent goaltending of Darrin Lewis of Riverside. The overtime perlod was fast and exciting. Whltby outshot their op- ponents 15-2.and put two gonals in the nets. The winning goal came from Greg DeWtt from Scott Helmer and Grog, Rob- erts, shortly followed by a goal from Gary Mark with assista going to Chris Reier and Joon Lee. Goaltending for this final game was appro- priately split by Whlt- by's two goalies, Rob Lightle and Bart Slich- ter, both 6f whom have played superbly during th2e series. Including exhibitions, league play and tourna- monts, the teani played 69 games, compiling a record of 52 wins, 12 lossos and five ties. During the season they scored 328 goals, gave up only 121 goals and recorded 17 shut-ýouta. In tournament play, the teani won the A division of the Hespeler tournament, won the Pickering and Beaver- ton tournaments and won the consolation aide of the Bramalea Silver Stick tournament. "Based on our sea- son's performance, I would have to conclude that this group of young hockey players la one of the better Novice teams in the province. These kids played with dedica- tion, discipline- and maturity that you would flot expect fromn a group of eight-year olds.
