He has worked on the campalgn for five years and last year was one of the' assistant campaign chairmen. Sailing is fast becoming one of the ,major summer sports and the Canadian Yachting Association levels of sailing skill from White Sali 1-2-3, Bronze Sail 4-5 and Silver Sali 6 will be pre- sented by quahified CYA-trained instrue- tors. Beginners sal in Opti- mists or CL14's and ad- vance to the Albacores and tbis year there will be a Code 40 for racing training. The CL's and Code 40's are built at the well-known CL Boat- works, in.,Pickering. .The Whitby Yacht '"ub Junior Sail Instruc- tion Prograin begins this year on JuIy 4ý and ends August 26. It is not restricted to WYC members - the courses are open to any student, ages 9 to 17, either boy or' girl, at reasonable fees for the full-day programs. The 1963 program wil lbe in two levels: Division 1 - White Sali 1- 2-3 in four 2-week ses- sions beginning July 4. Four weeks are recom- mended but two weeks wlll get you underway. Division 2 - Bronze Sal 4-5 and Silver Sal 6 wil be 4-week sessions in July or August, for those who have secured their White Sal 3. The Bronze level develops a lot of skills in advanced tech- niques including much more in boat handling in differig conditions and racing. skiIIs. When a boy or girl completes their CYA Bronze-Levelf 5 they know well how to, handie a dinghy and also make an excellent crew member on a larger boat. The course follows the national program esta- blished by the CYA. It-is uniform acroas Canada and is given by instrue- tors whiave attained their Green, Blue or Redi levels at seminars con- ducted by the Ontario Sailing Association in our area.
