A display, titled Gar- den and Countryside by, Wbitby artist Maureen Remington, is also being shiown to the end of the month in the auditorium of the library. Remington is known for paintings of ar- chitecture, landscapes and flowers in water colours, oils and pen and ink. FREE FILMS Whitby's Station Gallery, Henry and Vic- toria Streets, bas an- nounced a< sununer schedule of free films for both children and adults.. The films will be presented eaeh Thur- sday in July and August with afternoon flicks at 3 p.m. for children and evening shows at 7 p.m. for adults. The afternoon flick August 18 will be The Little Princess, starring Shirley Temple.- The evening show will be Notorious, starring Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman and directed by Alfred Hitchock. The afternoon show August 25 will be Laurel and Hardy in'Sons of the Desert.' The evening feature will be Portrait of Jennie. 1 CHAMBER 0F COMMERCE The Whitby Chamber of Commerce wiil hold a meeting September 9, 7 p.m., at Cuilen Gardens Restaurant, Taunton Road and Cochrane Street. There will be a presentation of awards to. marigold contest winners and an address on the Whitby Dunlops 25th anmiversary reunion by Mayor Bob Attersley. The meal, which will cost $12 per person, wil consist of salad, roil and butter, roast beef, potatoes and vegetables, ehocolate eclair and coffee.
