Placement in the three offices totalled 835 for the month, which compares to a total of 446 placements during August. The majority of clients were registered in material handling and related; construc- tion trades; produce fabricating, assembling and repairing; sales; service; clerical and related. During September, e ort the greatest em- ployment opportunities existed in Manufacture Of Transportation Equipment; Construc- tion; Retail Trade; Per- sonal Services; Ac- commodation and Food Services. In September, there were five short term and 20 apprentices agreements at a cost of $166,000 signed under the General Industrial Training Program. At the end of Septem- ber, there were 184 students in the skill courses sponsored by the Canada Em- ployment Centre and 41 people receiving academic upgrading at Durham College. BLACKBOTTOM BALL The annual Blackbottom Bail, sponsored by the Whitby Arts, will be held Friday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m., at Whitby's Heydenshore Pavilion. Peter Schofield and the Canadians will provide the music. Grahame, whose interests inelude hockey and baseball, has been delivering the Free Press for two years in the Wood Lawn, Bellwood, Applewood and Thickson area.
