This year there were a lot of trophies to present since the assoclation's varlous teanis had won two Canadian tities and threeOntario tities and OMOLA Zone 6 Cham- pionships. President Ed Jones introduced the head table and ernceed the event. 1 This year there- was a group of 12 Paper- weights, aged six and under who practised the skills and fun of the sport. There' was a medalion presented for each of our future stars. Ini the Tyke- division, the sponsoring Brooklin Redmen can be proud of their teani which won the AU-Ontario""1C" Championship. Shaydon Santos and Wayne Primeau shared the The Brooklin-Whitby major Peewee hockey team sponsored by Pat &Mario's. Restaurant came tagether as a unit Monday, Oct. 10 and won Markham's Early Bird Tournament. In their first game against Richmond 11il1, Whitby feil behind 2-0 in the firstperlod. Paul Wmndover put Whitby, on the scoreboard in the second period and with just 1:09 left in the third,, Keith, Primeau blasted- home a goal that sent the game inta overtime. With -only ten seconds gonei- the sudden death overtime period Tim Weber jammed the puck into the Richmond Hill net and.sent the boys on ta face North Bpy,, who were billed as the top team, in the tournaient. Whitby emerged with a 3-1 win as Bryan- Thonipson. Simon Ash- down and David Grant each fired a goal. The win set the stage for the chaîpionship gaie against tour-, nament hoot Markham. Goals by Todd Wilson and Kéith Primeau in the second period stood up -as Whitby defeated Markham 2 toi1. Anne Windover was their Most Valuable Player while Bilan Cyr and Sandy Crawford were selected as the Most Improved Players. The Brooklin Kinsmen sponsored this team. The Whitby Optimiats sponsored the Major Novices, who received trophies for winning the Zone 6 "A" Division. Robbie Martin was the Most Valuable Player, Dennis Directo was named as the mostim- proved Rookie-of-the- Year and David Wood was the Most Improved Player..
