The Treasurer of Ontaro, the Honourable Larry Grossman, indicated that, while definite signs of economic recovery in Ontario are visible, recovery is stili vulnerable to the pressures of inflation. Our Province cannot afford to have recovery threatened in'this way, any more than we can afford to relax the firm grip on Government expenditures that is helping us keep our deficit under control. To ensure that.this recovery is an enduring one,. new Legislation is being prepared to extend On- tario's public sector wage restraint and ad- ministered price efforts. This new Legislation will facilitate a return to collective bargaining, without sacrificing our restraint objectives. These objectives will not be easy to reconcile, and the' Governmnent will be consulting closely with those affected by the Program. On the issue of consultation, the Treasurer also announced that thie budget process in Ontario will be opened up to peérmit citizens, interest groups, and MPP's to become more closely involved.
