Local Band Makes Debut For local band Night- shift, anxiety filled the air as they made their debut at the Annandale Golf and Country Club, Ajax. The sets ran relatively smooth for the band on their opening night. Con- sisting of Jon Ingham, base player, Joe Jackson, drummer, and Wayne' du Mont, lead singer on guitar and harps. This versatile group incorporated a blend, of rockabilly, country, folk and rock to suit everyones pleasure. They played a variety of original material, in- cluding their number one hit song fromn recen- tly released demo tape on CHMR Hamilton. But for this new band, they were flot without problems. A weak sound system, and a mishap with the base drum caused a brief delay in the second set. Other than that, the evening progresseci weil. Nightshift has been workiing together for about one year. They practice 3 mights a week in their Whitby studio, where lead singer Wayne du Mont writes the lyrics for their music. "Wayne is our com- poser, then when he finishes with the material, theband gets together to arrange it to suit our own style,"' says Ingham, acting as spokesman for the band. And producing their own material is just part of the goal they want to portray. "lWe want to produce our own material 80 that we can be known as unique from any other, band,"' commenta Ingham. "We want to make it on our own music."1 For» Nightahift. who went to Annandale Club to get'their "feet wet"I, came to the, right spot.
