WHITBY F' '84 will be exciting for chamber REE PRESS, This will be quite an exciting new year" for the Whitby Chamber of Commerce its new president said in his inauqoral address last Wednesday. Don Frise also had rnothing but praise for the Town of Whitby's at- tempts to bring in- dustrial, corhmercial and residential development to the area saying that it would bring more jobs and more prosperity to the town. However, he said that it was up to the chamber to do its part to attract new business to Whitby, especially in the tourist sector. Frise, who represents Family Trust- Real Estate at the chamber, said that facilities such as Cullen Gardens and Famlly Kartways are attractions in their own right and would bring spillover business to the rest of the town. He also pointed out that there are many local business people. There was a group of about 30 people present to witness the swearing in of the chamber's 1984 executive. They also heard Frise telling them that they have to try harder to welcome the new people settling in Whitby. These people, he poin- ted out, are mostly commuters and have easy access to both the Whitby and the Toronto market. "We are fortunate to be working in an area that is showing real growth," Frise said ad- ding, "We have to show them that Whitby has a lot more going for it than just being close to Toronto." These four people have just been sworn in as members of the Whitby Chamber 0f Commerce executive for 1984.
