Swimmers have com- peted in meets at Port Hope, Chatham, and Oshawa, as well as long course competitions at the University of Toron- to. The Long Course Cen- tral Region Champion- ships at the U. of T. saw 13-year old Michelle Primeau, emerge a bronze medalist in senior women's 200 but- terfly event, and Mike Pfeiffer top W.I.S.C. senior male swimmer. The waters of the U. of Raiïders beat Marlies By W. WAYPERS The' Peacock Family Sport Raiders, minor bantam hockey team, have successfully opened, their summer season with an 8 to 6 exhibition victory over the Toronto Marîboros. The game was wide open with both teams having many excellent scoring changes. Goal scorers for the Raiders were Steven- son, Scott Luik, Pratt, Opener lost,5-3 Whitby is -producing' yet another hopeful for the 1984 Olympic Games, that will be held in Los Angelos in a couple months time. 1Pl Christina McDonald, seen here on the parallel bars, is a member of the Oshawa Gemimi Gym- nastics Club, and is preparing for the second qualifying meeting for the Olympics that will be held next month in Toronto. She is already a veteran of international competition having won fourth place in the Champions All meet that was held in England last April. Last summer, she won a bronze medal in the floor section of another international com- petition that was held in Japan. The runs were scored by Robin Patterson, Ron- nie Erwin and Mike Fulton. Jeff Usher pitched five strong innings striking out eight bat- ters. Primeau re-elected WISC president By ANN GOULDING WISC Dfrector The Whitby Iroquois Swim Club held its an- nual general meeting on May 14 at Whitby Senior Public School and the board' of directors for the 1984/85 season was elected.. The executive con- sists of Peggy Primeau, re-elected as president; Gary Leswick, vice- president; Elinor Kidd, returned as treasurer; and Pat Doran, secretary. Board members Sheena Currie takes over meet management; Mildred Smith as social- con- venor; andý Marg'Mc- Donald in charge of equipment. The positions of member- ship chairman and publicity will be filled by members at large Gerry Armitage, Bob Morrice, and Winston Moore. The new board takes over its duties after a brief initiation period. Corrick,. Reier, Bren- flan, St. Aubin, and Grant. Replying for the Manlies were Power and Choi with two each, while singles came from Taylor and Suchan. The summer hockey season runs from May until July and involves exhibition games and tournaments with teamns from Metro Toronto. The Lakeshore and the United States. In ad- dition a good portion of summer ice time is devoted to the develop- ment and improvement of individual skills of each player as well as the application of these skills to the overall con- cept of team play. Also, the players haveé the opportunity of playing with boys from many cities and towns in the area as the team is made up 0f players from different hockey centres. The members of this year's team are: Tom Gosleigh, Mike O'Rourke, Scott Feasby, Shayne Steven- son, Derek Grant, Joe St. Aubin, John Win- dover, David "Vezina, Mark Hamil ton, Robbie Miwa, Mike Reier, Scott Luik, Mike Watters, Danny Pratt, Jamie Mair, Jean Luik, Troy McKay, Gord Roblin, Mike Brennan,. Craig Fisher and Frank Corrica. T. were churned up at the Long Course In- vitational Sprint Meet on May 13 by Whitby competitors as well. Janice Currie, 13, picked up bronze medals in 50 free and 100 fly, silver in 200 back and 200 medley relay with teammates Michelle Primeau, Julie Leswick and Heather Armitage. Eleven-year old Ar- mitage gained gold in 200 back, silver in 50 free, and bronze in 50 f ly. Leswick scored with a silver for 50 free, and. bronze in 200 back. Both girls collected another gold ifi 200 medley relay along with Anne-Marie Scott and Wendy Primeau. Boys events saw Stewart Smith, 12, win silver in 100 breast and senior Dave Goulding earned bronze in 100 fly. Goulding won a fourth and two sixths in ad- ditional events. Ribbon winners for 12 and under events were Anne-Marie Scott, Wen- dy Primeau, Patti Me- Donald, Charissa Morrice, Tricia Carrol, and Alison Bettridge. The Whitby Club wîll be hosting the Optiniist Invitational sponsored by the Whitby Optimist Club in early June and are expecting a con- tingent of swimimers from Wakefield, England on May 25. The British teamà members Will be billet- ted with W.I.S.C. swimmers -for a two- week period and a wide variety of activities are planned for the English visitors as well as the much anticipated com- petition at, Iroquois Pool.
