The semi-formal bail in honor of Ontario's bicentennial will be held at 8 p.r. on July 21 at Trafalgar Castel Sehool. Dancing will be to the sounds of the Walter Taylor Trio and a buffett will be served. The highlight of the evening will be a draw for a captain's chair which was first used by Ontario County registrat John Ham Perry from 1853 to 1896.1 Only 200 tickets are available for the dance and cost $20 each. Free Press Staff Photo YMCA gets grant for summer computer program Under the auspices of a computer literacy grant from Summer Canada Works, the Durham Region Family YMCA is offering two summer programns at the recently opened Y- Com-Pute Centre. First, a new sport/computer camp. This wiil be based at Henry Street High School and features each day 1-% hours of. computer Urne and a variety of sports, ending with a swim at Iroquois Park.' Participants wil be taught basic programming at their level of experience -and time will also be made for some computer games. The camp 15 of- fered in weekly sessions. PAGE 9 Tour train leaves July 3 By SUSAN BISSELL To take a journey and to imagine Whitby's past, to explore its present, and to dream about its future w'orld indeed prove in- teresting. This summer, local residents wiil have an opportunity to take~ such a journey as theyý ar&'guided both back-' ward and forward in time on board the "Corne Discover Whit- by" Tour Train. Beginning July 3, this train wil be operating throughout the months »of July and August and everyone is welcome to join the Whitby Tourist Information Centre for a tour; children under the age of 14 should be accompamied by an adult. The point of departure wiil be the Whtby Tourist Information Centre at 900 Brock St. .S. with the train leaving at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday to Friday. You wiil be taken on an ex- cursion about the town while a guide highlights various points of in- terest'; emphasis will be given to many historic sites and hopefully we will be able to answer any questions'that may arise. The morning route wiil include a walk through the ToWn Hall while the afternoon route will include in- famous Station Gallery. Both tours wil be ap- proximately 1½h hours in length and, tickets may be purchased just prior to boarding for a nominal fee of 25 cents.
