Failing to identify himself to patrolling police officers landed a local man in more hot water than he probably bargained for in the early hours of Iast Tuesday morning. According to a spokesman for the Durham Regional Police Force, two of- ficer.s were on routine patrol when they noticed that a vehicle failed to obtain the stop sign at, the corner of Centre St. S. and Summer films The Whitby Arts Station Gallery wilI present- "Summer Cinema '84" - a series of free* films for both cbildren and aduits every' Thursday begin- ming June 28. The driver then fled on foot and was found shortly thereafter hiding in the bushes in the rearyard of a nearby home. The officers ap- prehended the driver and after he offered what was described as "4passive resistance" he was handcuffed and searched. SThe spokesman said that the suspect failed to produce identification and when asked to give bis name, the man refused to do so, instead called the officers a variety of profane names. Having no other choice, the* offiçers transported him to the holding ceils , at Oshawa's 17 Division headquarters wbhere he was subsequently iden- tified by a family mem- ber.
