The resuits of each week's Play at the club, are reported in the following issue of the Whitby Free Press. Bonnah and Isrnay Needham were on hand to assist members and guests on arrivaI and president, Shirley Mac- Donald extendedi a very warrn welcome to the assernbly, and certainly captured the attention of ail with setting goals and not reaching for the sky. Topic leader, Diane Macdonald requested one minute impromptu speeches from, several members and -guests, and put our listening skills to the test while keeping on theme "mission accom- plished" Who will forget about Chopin, Jeanne Sauve and Irma Bombeck, their names leave no room, for doubt on their achievements. The trophy for the best mini-speech was awar- ded to Saily Jurcaba on her account of Lee Jacocca. The business session followed and the president quickly dispensed with ail mat- ters requiring action in a timely mnanner. After recess, the moderator, Dorothy Hart presented the af- ter-dinner speaker and we were certainly enter- tained by Lee Hewitt's rendition of "How Children 'supposedly' Keep You Young. " Evaluating the speake r was Alina Lusito and the general evaluator for the evening was Germaine Barr. Grammarian, Paulie Torresan reminded us of misused and overworked words. Timers for the evening were Aithea Darwen and Cherie Hemingsen. The president, Shirley MacDonald gave a very touching retiring speech and I arn sure, we all felt a twinge of sadness knowing this would be her last discourse as president. However, we are very proud that she has been elected council officer and will hold the office of first vice- president for Council Two. We are also pleased, that another» member of our club was elected second vice- president for Council Two. The installation of the new board was the highlight of the evening and was beautifully per- formed by Margaret Grant of the Pine Ridge Toastmistress Club. The following have been elected for the '84-'85 term: Betty Dubowski, presdient; Dorothy Hart, first vice- president;- Lee Irwin, second vice-president; Diane Macdonald, secretary; Mlina Lusito, treasurer; Pauline Torresan, delegate to council; and, Shirley MacDonald, immediate past-president.
