Sam Post married Elly Nicolai on June 28, 1934 in Murmewoude, Friesland, Hlolland. The couple emigrated to Canada in July, 1951. Sam was employed at the Whitby Psychiatrie Hospital until Sept. 30, 1972 when he retired after 20 years service. The Posts have four children: Keith of Pickering, Anne (Mrs. Vesters) of Whitby; Betty (wife of Whitby Regional Couneillor Gerry Emm) of Ashburn; and, John of Toronto. Another daughter, Lutke, passed away in 1944. The couple have 12 grandchildren. An open bouse was held in their honor at the Emm home- in Ashburn where Sam presented Elly with 50 golden roses. Friends came frgm Dryden, Beamsville, Fenelon Falls, Bobcaygeon, Stoney Creek and the Philippines. Relatives also flew in from Holland for the occasion. Congratulatory messages were also presented to- the Posts from Governor-General Jeanne Sauve; Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau; Op- position Leader Bilan Mulroney; N.D.P. leader Ed'Broadbent; and, Mayor Bob Attersley. They were also presented with -a plaque from Premier William Davis by Durham West MPP George Ashe. MP Scott Fenneil also presented them with a plaque. A wedding anniversary dinner was then held at the, Thunderbird Golf and Country Club by the family in their honor.
