Well, in Oshawa there are two truly fine restaurants that can meet the needs of local dîners - Steve's at 922 Simcoe St. N. and El Stavros at 557 King St. E. Both of' these fine establishments are owned and operated by Terry and Steve Givelas. Recently, this newspaper had an op- portunity to feâture both restaurants in its dining page. Both of these establishments _,offer similiar menus. Both specialize as steak and seafood houses and offer a wide arrange of dishes to please ail appetites. Both are tastefully decorated and give off a quiet, comfortable at- mosphere that permits intimate dining ex- periences. At Steve's and El Stavros many dishes are stili actually prepared at the table, the most notable exam- pie is their ceasar salad and dover sole. They also offer one of the best servings of just plain roast prime rib of beef. It is beautifully cooked to order and is tender and mouth- watering. Wine loyers will also be pleased. The list carnies flot only French and Italian vintages but Rhine and Greek wines as well - ail at reasonable prices for thîs area. The list also offers some of the better Canadian bottles as well. For those who visit Steve's and want a littie excercise after dinner, they are aiways welcome to visit Mr. G's whieh is right next door. Here a dise jockey spins his craft every night of the week for your dan- cing enjoyment. Steve's also caters to group bookings for almost any occassion, and it is advisable to book any one of. their four rooms well in ad- vance. Both restaurants will be open special hours du ing, the holiday season. Both will be open Christmas Day from 12 noon to 9p. m. El Stavros will be open New Year's Day from 4 to9 p.m. Both will be serving dinner on New Year's Eve from 4 to 9 p.m. and will host a special New Year's Eve dinner gala party from 9 p.m. until closing.
