In representative team play: The Hideaway novice teani defeated Thor- nhill 3-0 on goals by Wayne Primeau (2) and Tim Chai. They then went on to slide by Unionville 7-6 on goals by Primeau (2), Jon Racicot and Paul Dillon (4). The Algoma Orchards atom squad downed Oshawa 3-0 on a hat trick byMbike Brillinger. The County Bowl peewee no. 2 tied the Oshawa Red Wings 2-al with goals by David Young and Marty Blake. However, they lost their next game to Orono 4-1. Blake scored the only Whitby goal. The Pat and Mario's peewee team beat Belleville 7-3 with goals by Darrin Lee, Dave Weir, Paul Hamilton, Grayson Hifford, Graham Burns and Mike Fulton. Brooklin - Whitby teams also did well in tournament play. In the North York tournament, the Whitby Optimist bantams lost to Finland's Kiekko Reipas 3-2 in the 'A' finals. Scoring for Whit- by were Craig Fisher and Mike Watters. The Eastway Plymouth Chrysler minor peewee's played well in the Bowmanville tournament. In their fir- st game, they Iost to Waterloo 8-3 with Whit- by goals coming from Derek Ellis, Drew Myers and Shawn Keogan. They also lost their second game 9-5 to Wex- ford. Goals by Matt Shearer, Keogan, Greg Fawcett, Justin Car- dwell and RobMartin. Showcase Video doubled Whitby Mal Video 4-2 on goals by Matt Muir (2), Brad Lee and Steve Cooper. Responded for Whitby Maîl were Jamison Pawluk and Brian Lodge. ATOM 'Victoria and Grey Trust easily downed Brooklin Esso 6-2 on goals by Ricky Racicot (4), Tadd Kerr and Ben Newell. Responding for Brooklin were Sandy Cohen and B.J. Prout. Kameka Footwear slid by ITT Cannon 5-4 with goals by Shane Bayford (3), Jeremy Lapraire and Jamie Olenyk. Answering for ITT were Dwane Torrens, Jeff Thorne (2) and Casey Bryant. Midas Muffler beat Totten Sims and Hubicki 4-3 with Jason Peddle and Chris Packer scoring two goals each. Responding for Totten was Mike Croucher, John Sinden and Darryl Lennox. Local 2-242 defeated McMillan and Bathurst 6-2 on goals by Troy Bramley (2), Brian Fernlund, Jason Yeu, Scott Wood and ding were Don Belanger and Mike Bloomer. Checker's Variety atoms earn second tourney win of season The Whitby Checker's Variety minar atom representative tearn are gaining a good reputation for them- selves having won their second tournament this season. They won the 18th an- nual Hespeler Tour- nament recently to go along with an earlier championship they won in Owen Sound. In their first game, Whitby completely out- classed Preston winning 10-1 with seven local boys sharing the goal scoring duties. Kiley Moulton led the way with a hat trick. Brian Medeiros added two while singles came froni Mark Babony, Jamie Pogson, Scott Mac- DonelI, Paul LeClaîr and Brodie Richards. In the semi-final game against Milton, Whitby felI behind 2-0 and then staged an awesome comeback scoring four unan- ,swered goals in the third period to wrn 4-2. MacDonneli started the comeback with Moulton tying the game moments later. Whitby brings home the Silver Stick The Brooklin-Whitby minor bantamn teani are the Newmarket Silver Stick champions of the 1984-85 hockey seasan. They won the award over the Christmas holiday after defeating teanis from across On- tario. The first two games were against the Mississauga NOrth Stars of the Metro Toronto Hockey League. Total goals declared the winner with Whitby coming out on top by a score of 11-4 on goals by Brian Munro (4), Todd Wilson (4), Keith Primeau (2) and Greg Rennie. Whitby then went on to blank Cambridge 5-0 on goals by Rennie, Sean Hoît. In the final game, Whitby easily defeated the Hill Crest Summits of the M.T.H.L. 5-0. Scoring were Munro (3), Weber and Adami Foote. Whitby had a 5-0 lead at the end of the second period and coasted the rest of the way to a 5-3 victory îaking themn the Silver Stick Tour- nament champions.
