ACVI classes in a state of change By LAURIE MELLICK Anderson C.V.I. A major change bas taken place at Anderson Collegiate in this 1984-85 school year. This is the school year in which the two-day rotary schedule bas been abolished and the semester systemn has been introduced. Andersonians have found many advantages to this new system such as only having a maximum of . four classes to concentrate on at one time. Since students attend the same classes every day, information is learned quickly and rememn- bered easily. Many students, especially the grade thriteens, are fin- ding that being able to upgrade a low mark in the second semester is very helpful. Also, after the end of the first semester, if a student is satisfied with his marks its nice to know that he has done wth those f irst semester subjects and can start again with four new ones with ad- ded encouragement. Andersonians have found dsadvantages to the semester system also. It seemns that although there are only four subjects to concen- trate on, there is a tremendous outpour of homework. If a student decides to forget'about doing homework for a few nights he quickly falîs behind. Tests in some classes come on an average of one per week which may seem a little too of ten in a cour- se that is really difficult. However, thanks to the support of ail staff members, the students of Anderson are proving through higher grade averages thatthey are adjusting welI and that the semester system is a success! Ambulance service caLi During the week that ended at midnight last Thursday, the Whitby Ambulance Service responded to 95 calîs for service. The service respon- ded to 32 calîs of a routine nature and to 30 standby calîs for other ambulance services in Ajax and Oshawa. They also responded to 33 emergency calîs including three motor vehicle accidents. The number to caîl for ambulance service in the Town of Whitby is 723-5232.
