DO'C atudents had a number of events to keep them occupied throughout Education Week. A static display was set up by the art studen- ta at Sheridan Mail last week. On Monday, April 22, a selection of student art was placed on dlsplay for ail to view. Thanks to Mrs. Roche for her Urne and for ber talent. Thursday, April 26, the choral group, un- der the direction of Mr. Arbour, performed a selection of songa to give its audience at Sheridan Mals taste of what is to corne at our annual Sprlng Melody on May 2. And finaily, on Friday, April 26, the dramatic arts class, un- der the guidance o! Mo. Clarke, gave a live per- formance of mime and rock vldeos. Thanka to ail who participated. But asat week was not ail fun and games. On Tuesday, April 23, the grades 12 and 13 math contests were held. These contesta are province-wide exams sponsored by the University of Waterloo. Then, on Thursday, the grade 13 chemistry con- test was held. This la also a province-wxde exam sponsored by the University of Waterloo. Good luck to ail those who entered. A number of senior students acted as judges in the elementary school science fairs held at St. Bernadettes, St. Isaac Jogues, St. John's and St. Marguerite Bourgeois. Ail who, went found it a very worth- while and enjoyable ex- perience. As previously men- tioned, our annual Spring Melody ia to be held tomorrow evening at the school at 8 p.m. The cost is $3 and it will be coilected at the door. Corne out and enjoy our musical interlude; it promises to. be a very enjoyable event. Also, the grade 10 French trip is fast ap- proaching. On Friday, May 3, the students wWl be leaving for Quebec; they wiil return on.Mon- day, May 6. Twenty-eight Ander- son students par- ticipated in the 1985 ver- sion of the Canadian Mathematica Com- petition held in February. The resuits of the junior (grades 9-11) nationwide competition were revealed on April 12, with Anderson Collegiate experiencing admirable achievemen- ts. Two outstanding ef- forts by Gregg Dunn, a grade 9 student, and Drew Davidson, a grade il student, concluded with their ranking in the top ten per cent of al competitors acrosa Canada. Certificates of merit, for those students ranking in the top twen- ty-five per cent nation- wide, were extended to five of Andersons young mathernaticians. Every student in- volved in this year's Canadian Mathematics Competition should be congratulated for the great effort shoWn. Un- der the coaching of the Anderson matehmatics' teachers Sherri Bernard and Sylvia Roc, these 28 students performed remarkably.
