Owner Savverio Gallucci says he has nothing against pizza - he's been known to eat a slce or two of the Italien speciaity himseif - but that he wants to of- fer his patrons new op- portunities to sample his country's cuisine. The Carretto, located at 601 Dundas St. W. in the Whitby Town Plaza, is a real delight. Patrons can choose either the brightly lit dining room or enter the cave for a romantic din- ner for two. The cave is subdued, quiet and peaceful. The intimate lighting lends much to the at- mosphere. The Carretto offers the patron the chance to try Italian dishes that are not usually offered in restaurants clairnîng to be Italian. After ail, there is more to Italian cuisine than pasta. M.S.
