One of the houses featured in the Whitby Wallng Tour sponsored by the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario (ACO) is the Hood-Hare house, lacated at 301 Centre St. SOriginally built for a retlred farmer William Hood in 1875, it was purchased by the Hare family in 1944. The present owner, Margaret Horton, daughter of Mrs. Hare, and her husband, Rager, have done exten- sive restoration ta the Gothic revival bouse. On the right, Rod Angevaare, president of the local branch of ACO and walking tour guide, discusses with Brian Winter, local archivist and historical researcher for the tour guide folder, the merits of the bouse. 0f Winter's contribution, Angevaare said, "Brian is indispensible for the work he bas done."
