The Ontario Public Service Employees Union members are fed up wltb the province's half-hearted efforts to negotiate and tbey want a quickly negotiated and substantial psy increase In their 1986 wage con- tract, accordlng ta OP- SEU local 331 president Joan Gates. The institutional care workers, wbich include RNA's, cbild care workers, occupational instructors and recreation therapists, have only just received their 1985 contract, ac- cording ta Mrs. Gates and last year it was December before they were able to settle the 1984 contract. And then, to add insult to injury, they have to wait a year ta get a bloody pay in- crease," said Mrs. Gates. On Thursday, said Mrs. Gates, institutianal care workers across the province were out on the picket lune in an effort to bring their case to the attention 'of the public before the new negotiations with the province began Friday. The job specifications and psy standards were first established more than 20 years ago, according ta Mrs. Gates and those standards are no longer an accurate reflectian of the jobs or the reqwirements necessar ta perform them.
