PAGE 30. WEDNESDAY. JUNE Il. 1986 WHITBY FREE PRESS Sporty Hyundai Excel loaded with featùres As you can see, the Hyun- dai Excel Is a hatchback. A sporty hatchback. Also very stylish. But this Is Just the tip of the Iceberg. You are looking at a car that is truly remarkable value. Some facts. Excel has more standard features than most other front-wheel-drive cars. Excel uses the latest technology to achieve out- standing performance and comfort. Excel offers European design features that are unusual on a car of this price. Hyundai Excel: truly, today's word for value. Yes, that's Glugiaro's work. The Italian master of design has done it again. The body before you is beautiful, as well as ef- ficient. Here is the new generation of hatchback, engineered to meet the needs of active people. Ex- cel delivers peppy p.rfor- mance, excellent fuel economy, and a parade of all-included features. Plus styling that speaks for ltself. Inside and out, front and back, Excel Is loaded. Look at what you drive away with: side window defrosters, remote tailgate release, clock, intermittent wipers, styled steel wheels, and car- peting throughout. More? You bet - Michelin all-season, steel-belted radiais, resettable trip odometer, child-proof rear door locks, power-assisted brakes... The driver's seat ln the GLS is adjustable six ways, and also has a lumbar sup- port. And the rear seat backs snap into three positions. So it's no surprise that Excel carres up to five in such comfort. The ride is quiet and smooth - thanks to triple door seal mouldings, double-insulated walls, floor pads and aerodynamic styling. Even the heater has been bullt (and tested) for Canadian winters. It comes with a bi-level, four-speed blower plus, on the GLS, rear seat ducts, so everybody's warm. Hyundai Excel. A hot idea. Here's a car that's ready for shopping, holidays, spor- ts weekends - even moving day. The Excel expands to fit your needs. For a start, there's a storage tray under the passenger seat (GLS). And whên you open the hat- chback... There's a good- sized luggage area behind the back seats. Fold down one rear seat to carry those extra long items and fold down both rear seats and you've got a whole lot of room. As much carrying space as a small van. Excel is a clever blend of the new and the proven. The suspension system, for example, is a totally new approach that has important advantages. As with every Hyundai automobile, Excel has been through more than 30 demanding tests at the Hyundai proving grounds in Korea. Plus a winter of cold- weather testing in northern Canada. Hyundai Excel: a whole lot of car for your money. Perma-Shine protects cars better than hand waxing (NC) - Hand waxing and polishing, long considered the most effective way to raise a brilliant shine from a car's paint finish, seems to be fading in popularity. Many consumers are find- ing that a wax shine doesn't last as long as it . used to, and that it's rarely worth the investment in time and effort. The .responsibility for these "diminishing re- turns" lies almost entirely with the increasing pres- ence of atmospheric pollu- tants, acid rain, and road salt. Car wax tends to ab- sorb these substances. As time goes on, layers of this contaminated wax can build up on the surface, damaging the finish and dulling the shine. As a re- sult, car owners who want to maintain a solid shine with wax must not only wax more frequently, they must carefully remove the old wax first. Most people just don't have the time. A recent breakthrough in chemical research, how- ever, has led to a remark- able innovation in paint protection. A special paint additive has been devel- oped which actually pene- trates deep into the surface of a car's paint, right down to the prime coat. The addi- tive surrounds each paint molecule with a bonded-on high gloss shield. Unlike traditional waxor plastic coats, the formula allows the paint to breathe, an essential factor in pre- venting the finish from chipping or becoming, brit- tie. Best of all, once a car is treated, it need never be waxed or polished again. In Canada, this process is available only through a company called Perma- Shine Inc. Their Perma- Shine Centres offer a com- plete treatment including extensive cleaning and vax removal, professional application followed by high speed polishing to lock-in the shine. This pro- cess is highly recom- mended for new cars, but it will equally invigorate older cars with dulled or scratched finishes.
