On Friday, Dec. 5 they defeated Woodville 3-2 in overtime. Whitby scored first 55 seconds into the game when Copry Brick fired in a pass from Brian Lodge, and Steve Biais. Then Lodge scored on a pass froin Brick and Biais to put Whitby ahead 2 to 0. Woodville came back and scored two goals before the second period was a minute old. The score remained that way until BIais scored on a breakaway with 2:43 left in the -second overtime period to take> the gaine. Matthew Norton played a good gaine in net for Whitby. Scoring in the fir. st period was Lodge fromn Robbie Beesley and Brick, Matt Car- dwell frorn Stewart Adamn and Jin Boyd and Lodge from Brick and Jeff Malcolm. Orillia scored their 1only goal early in the isecond period to ruin David Ayres' shutout, but Brian'Scott scored on a pass from Lodge and Biais before- the period was over. Third period scoring was by Biais froin Lodge, Adam froin Sean Saun- ders and with only 32 seconds lef t in the gaine,, Scott 'got his second goal of the gaine from Malcolmn and Biais. After only an hour's rest Whitby went back on t.he ice to face a fresh Markham teain in the semni finals. Lodge opened the scorîng at 1: 04 of the second period on a passfrorn Biais. Markham then scored twice to take the lead, In the third, period Lodge tied the gamne to force overtirne, but Whitby took a penalty which allowed Markham to score the winning goal.
