Porter Colegiate and Anderson had 7-3 recor- ds i the round robin, with Porter awarded first on the points <1f- ferential. Eastdale placed first in the other pool with a 9-1 record and Henry Street placed second with 8-2 record. Ini the playoff, Henry î treet defeated Porter two games straight with game scores of 15-2 and 15-3. Meanwhile Ander- son railied fromn a 15-5 loss to Eastdale, taking the next two games with scores of 15-8 and 15-12. Whitby elimlînated Markham with two wins and a tie. In the first gamne played in Brookli,, Whitby defeated Markham 2-1. Markham scored the first goal early in the gamne. Then Whitby's Wayne Primeau scored, assisted by Derek- Young, to bring the gamne W a 1-1 tie. Stephen St. Amnand guarded Whitby's net very well throughout the series. Whitby's other goaltender, Jamie Hogel, was recuperating from an injury, mcurred in the Barrie tournament. The Che ckers' Variety minor atoms went on to meet Newmarket in the second round of the playoffs. Whitby defeated Newmarket in two straight games. The first game in Brooklin was a 6-3 vie- tory. Whitby's Jim Brown put two con- secutive goals in the net - the first unassisted, the second assisted by Muir and Primeau. Paul Brooks' unassisted goal followed by Chai's goal assisted by, Dillon brought Whitby's score to 4-0 by the end of the first period. Newmarket came back in the second period with three goals. But Primeau c linched Whitby's victory putting i two more goals - one unassisted and the other assisted by Dillon. The second game in Newmarket was a 2-0 victory. Whitby's Stephen St. Amnand ear- ned a shutout making some keen'and crucial saves. Chai scored Whitby's first goal on an assist from ?rinieau. Then Primeau fired in the, second unassisted goal. The minor atoms wiil meet Ajax in the final round' of the York- Simncoe playoffs, and the winning team wil in the playoffs. AA .Ontario Whitby skater-second Sarah Cook of the Whitby Figure Skating Club was second in the preliminary girls A division of the Pineridge interclub competition at the Brooklin and Iroquois Park arenas Friday and Saturday. Cook was runner-up to Tracy Eames of the Orono Figure Skating Club in the division. There were 150 skaters form 10 local skating clubs in the an- nual interclub event, the second of a three-part series of competitions. Winners in each category, with the ex- ception of beginners, move on Wo the Eastern Ontario interclub championships in Brockville Mardii 7. The Uxbridge Figure Skating Club won the Boundy Family trophy, given to the club gaiig the most points inthe Pineridge'event. Uxbri dge skaters won five of the'13 divisions. Swimmer third at Ontario age event Heather Armitage of the Whitby Iroquois swim club was third in the 5o-metre freestyle event at the Ontario provincial age group championships held Feb. 6, 7 and 8 i Etobicoke. Armitage, in the girls' 13 and 14 age division, also had fifth-place finishes inthe 100 , 200- metre backstroke even- 100) freestyle and eleven- th in the 200 freestyle.
