Julie Leswick,Heather Armitage, Wendy Primeau. and Scott Currie all had victories for Whitby which had 37 mernbers in the competition. Currie was first in the il and 12- year-old boys' 100 and 200 backstroke events. He was second in the 400 individual medley and third in the 50 freestyle. Armitage won f ive events: 5L freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 fly. 100 freestyle and 100 fly, for girls 13 and 14. Primeau won three events - 400 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 800 freestyle - and was second in two other events, also for girls 13 and Armitage and Primeau joined Jill Morrice and Laura Mark (o win the 200 freestyle relay. They were third in the 200 medley relay. Leswick was first in the 200 freestyle for girls 15 and over. Leswick, Janice Currie, Armitage and Primeau won the 200 freestyle relay. Michelle Primeau replaced Wendy Primeau on the team as it won the 200 medley relay. Sandy Mark had a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke for boys 10 and under. He joined Neil Balan, Rick Marsh and Andrew Dowson for a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay and a fourth in the 200 medley relay. Mark Kelly had a third. fourlh. fifth and seventh for boys 1:3 and 14. Janice Currie had two seconds and two thirds for girls 15 and over. JMS takes over second JMS Communications handed Jensen's Auto Body an 8-2 loss in Wednesday Night Dart League ac- tion.Iast week.' JMS moved into second place with the win, moving past Dodd & Souter Broadloom which tied Skaags 5-5. JMS is now only three pointE behind the first-place Skaags team. Jensen's is in last place, now seven points away from third place. Bail hockey registration The Whitby Bail Hockey League has room for up to four more teams. To fill the vacancies, the league will be accepting individual and team registrations until March 20. A team consists of 22 players. Because the league is affiliated With the Ontario Bail Hockey Association, players must be 18 years old and over. Foster in Hollywood for skate competition Tiffani Foster of Whitby wiIl be participating in an exhibition figure skating event in Hollywood, California on Sunday, M;;rch 15. The nine-year-old, a Gr. 3 student, at Robert Thornton Public School, will enter the competition in con- junctîon witfl a iamîly holiday Lo the US. state. Foster, a member of the Oshawa Figure Skating Club, has previously won gold medals in competitions in Uxbridge and Lin- dsay in the preliminary and pre- preliminary divisions. THE HENRY STREET JUNIOR volleyball team captured the- Durham York Secondary Sehool Association volleyball tournament last Wed- nesday. The team beat Anderson in the final 15-10, 15-1. Nielson directs hockey school Roger Neilson, co-coach of the Chicago Blackhawks, will direct the hockey school at Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario, for the tenth consecutive year., The school has been a seil-out in previous years, and will continue with one 1-week session and two 2- week sessions in 1987. Neilson's innovative coaching methods and approach to teaching have attracted boys from most provinces in Canada, from 12 states in the U.S. including California, Colorado, and Texas, from Japan, England and Scotland. Part of the appeai of the school is its location at one of Canada's foremost independent boarding schools. The sehool bas its own hockey arena with a full-sized ice surface, 9 playing fields, 2 gyms, 4 squash courts, 6 tennis courts, a swimming pool and permanent living accommodation in residen- ces' supervised by experienced Trinity College School housemasters. Ail staff members including Roger Neilson live on campus during the hockey school. The on-ice program includes 11/4 hours of instruction each morning and a game each afternoon or evening for every boy. Coaches include Colin.Campbell (Detroit Red Wings), Doug Jarvis' (Hartford Whalers), Ed Olyczyk (Chicago Blackhawks), Dave Crawford (Vancouver Canucks), Bob Crawford (Hartford Whalers), Mark Kirton (Vancouver Canucks), Ron Francis (Hartford Whalers), Greg Millen (St. Louis Blues), -John Garrett (Vancouver Canucks), Jacques Martin (St. Louis Blues). The school will run between July 12 and August 15, 1987. Applications are now being received.
