During 1987 budget discussions, council approved a three-year program to repair the system. It is to start this year at a cost of $320;' 000, with the province expec- ted to pay haif the cost. The Arthur St. sewer would eliminate two existing sewers across the 401 Highway and instead provide diversion to the' east. The recommendations, contained in the flooding report recently presented to council, include reconstruction by the Town of Whitby of Centre St. from Arthur St. to the 401 in con- junction with the Region sewer project. 1Public information meetings are also to be held on the flood report recently completed for the Region by Simcoe Engineering.
