But the steel siding wil not be applied to them for at leastanother five years. Stephanie Nichols had two goals as did Crystaî nnis while Julie Rowland and Jennifer Drummond had a goal a piece in the. 6-2 win over Ajax March 31. The novices also took part in tournament in Scarborough April 2, 3, 4 and 5 and won the silver medal. Whitbydowned Markahm -4 and then host team 6-2 before failing to St. Catherines 9-6 and then 9-0 in the final. Teani icrease"- k islo-pitch' The popular Brooklin Slowpitch League will be expanding from six t'O eight teams this year due to the recent demand of more residents to join in the summer pastime. The league bas a few vacancies left to fili on. the teams. Any men age 19 and over are invited to corne out and joiri in the fun. it should be noted, however, that although membership will be taken on a fir- st-come-first-served basis, preference will be given to local players; that is, those who live in the north ward.* .The teams usually play twice a week, in the, evenings of Wed- nesday, Friday or Sunday at the baîl park in Bro oklin from May to September. It had been recommended to the Town that the steel siding be placed on ail four walls as the "ultimate" solution to the problem. But that would have cost $310,000 plus professional and inspection fees. Instead, the Town has decided to place the siding only on the east wall and carry out preventative maintenance on the remaining three. The Town's objective is to get the repairs completed' in 1987, said Morrow. He added that the cost is, unknown but wil be less than $310,000. Morrow said the arena wil not have to be closed while repairs are carried out. Before repairs are started, a report indicating cost and what bas to be'done will go before coundil for approval.
