He was in his 76th year. He -was born in Toronto on June 28, 1911, son. of -Earl and Mary <(Tanner) Nixon.. He married Ida Rose Terry on May 15, 1948, and resided in Whitby for the past 39I years and was a member of St. Mark's United Chur- ch. Once the animal is caught, the trap provides for the easy transpor- tation and release of the animal, unharmed, in a wilderness area . DAVID THOMAS David John Thomas, a long-time resident of Whitby, died on April 20,, 1987 at Whitby General Hospital. He was in bis 94th year. He was born on June 28, 1893 in Port Talbot, South Wales . He served wlth the Royal Horse Artillery throughout World War 1 and was wounded during the Mid- dle East campaign. 1031/2 MARYE WHITBY TELEPHONE 43 In 1927, he emigrated to, Canada with his wife and two sons, settling in Oshawa. He moved to Whitby in 1934 where he was employed at the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital. A reservist with thè Ontario Regiment (tanks) he was called up at the outbreak of World War II and served with the Ontario Regiment and the Meclical Corps. He was discharged in 1946 with the rank of sergeant major. He resumed bis occupationi at the Whitby Psychiatrie Hospital, retiring in 1964. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 112, Whitby and the sergeants and Whitby and the Sergeants and Warrant Officers Mess-Ontario Regiment (tanks) Oshawa. Mr. Thomas was predeceased by bis youngest son Yestyn Thomas who was killed serving-,,with the Royal Canadian Air Force in World War Il.
