Green recognized for 30 y'ears service Taslyne Green of Whitby, ad- ministrator at Fairview Lodge home of the aged, was recently recongized by Durham regional couneil for her 30 years of service to the region and the former Ontario County. "I had a rather wonderful letter from council - it amazed me," said Green just prior to a eéremony Iast week marking- the start of renovation work at the lodge. Green has been Iodge ad- mmnistrator for 15 months, after almost 10 years as assistant ad- ministrator to- Muriel Coates, longtime adminîstrator at the lodge. "She taught me so much - she was a lady with great warmtb and harm, says Green of the former administrator. Before that, Green was deputy-f;easurer for the Coun- ty of Ontario, a job she got in 1957, about a year after arriving in Canada from native England. "lIt's neyer been boring. Trying, yes. Exasperating, sometimes. Lots of laughs and lots of fun." She likes the constant personal contact her administrative duties offer, quite unlike her work as treasurer that emphasized figures. And she likes Whitby. "You build commumity links, and believe me, it's a great com- munity." She doesn't mind the second major renovation being carried out at the lodge since temporary incon- venience will eventually restilt in overali improved conditions for residents and staff.
