The Pine Ridge Cloggers are based in Blackstock and draw members from the Blackstock Caesarea, Nestieton and Port Perry area.. Although they have been ini existence for only two years now, they have some 25 to 30 mem- bers ranging in age from eight years old to some who are in their 60s. The Pine Rige Cioggers are part of the larger Ontario Rhythm Cloggers who boast a mei»bership of several hundred people, some of whom are residents of Brooklin. There is quite a difference bet- ween step dancing and clogging ac- cording to Irene Googh of the Pine Ridie Cloggers. Step dancing is usually performed individuaily, Swhereby clogging can be done either individuaily or as a group. Googh describes clogging as a combination of square dancing, step dancing and a littie Irish jig ail thrown together. With taps on their shoes and festooned in bats and crinolins,. everything moves in clogging ... feet, hands, arms and heads.' The routines and timing are per- fect and the clogging exhibition should prove to be one of the enter- taining highlights at the fair this year.
